India started on a poor note in the second ODI at Indore. After a crushing victory over in England in the first ODI, India has been a favorite for the second ODI.
With India at 29/3, all the expectations are on Yuvi now. If you can recall, Yuvraj Singh had scored hooping 138 not out, leading India to their crushing victory over England.
As you may know by know, I am a big fan of Kapil Dev Nikhanj, the legendary. He has been the only Indian captain to bring home World Cup. Indian Cricket has improved by a factor of magnitude after after the World Cup win. He has inspired hundreds of Indians to become cricketer and specifically pacemen.
Yesterday, when I was watching SaReGaMaPa on Zee TV, I was surprised to see that the whole episode was dedicated to promoting ICL. And to add to it, Greatest of great Indian legendary Kapil Dev was invited as a guest, with his ICL captains.
If you have ever listened to Kapil, each and every word from his mouth is a source of inspiration. He is never political. And he was the same yesterday, inspiring the budding singers in his own way. It was great to listen to him.
He was presented with a momento on the 25th anniversary of him leading the Indian win in Worldcup.
On a related note, he has been doing a great service in providing opportunity to little stars to be great cricketers via ICL. ICL season two is underway.
There is no doubt that Yuvraj Singh (Yuvi) is a hugely talented cricketer. I do not think he is hyped about his talent. His place in the India ODI side is jeopardy due to his performance in the last couple of series.
There seems to be no motivation for this star to perform better. He is not focusing and concentrating on his game seriously. First of all, he needs to have an hunger to be a top class batsman, which doesn't seem to be there.
I think, currently, he is more serious about his modeling, partying and girl friends affairs than serious cricket.
Once he gets serious, there would be no stoppage for him, provided it's not too late.
"Cricket South Africa have today informed us
they can't arrange the series as their players have had a long and
hectic tour of England which ended on a disappointing note for them,"
Shafqat Naghmi, the Pakistan board's chief operating officer, told Reuters.
Naghmi was also told by a CSA official that "South Africa's leading
players were not interested in playing in a series immediately after
their tour of England".
South Africa's coach Mickey Arthur had expressed concerns that fatigue
was hampering his team's progress after their 4-0 loss to England in
the recent one-day series and warned the administrators against
"flogging a dead horse".
Pakistan was trying to arrange a three way ODI series with Sri Lanka and South Africa in South Africa.
BCCI is taking steps to make team selectors accountable. To make selectors more
accountable, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday decided
to put national selectors on its payroll.
Senior selector will be paid INR 2.5 Million and junior selctors will be getting INR 1.5 million. The selectors cannot hold any other position on BCCI. This indeed is a good step in theory.
One thing and main thing I wonder is how it is going to make them more accountable. Is it that by paying them hefty salary they wouln't ask for under the table cuts?
On the contrary, I think, that they would become even more corrupt, now that employees of BCCI. It would be their right to take bribes now. Would you audience agree with me?
If BCCI is serious about making selectors accountable, they should impose penalties along side hefty salaries when selectors make mistakes. You are right, how would any one know if they made any mistakes - there are not measuring criteria.
BCCI, if you are reading this article of mine, please have criteria to measure selctors success or failures in order to impose penalty.
