Gambhir Shines Despite India's Loss to Australia
Score:
Australia 7 for 317 (Ponting 124, Symonds 59, Hayden 54) Beats
India 299 (Gambhir 113, Uthappa 51, Lee 5-58) by 18 runs
A dashing century by Gautam Gambhir could not save India from an
18-run defeat at the hands of Australia in their tri-series match on
Sunday. This is his second century of the tournament. While the home side toasted a return to form ahead of Sunday's first
final, India's plight to reach the CB Series deciders now comes down to
the match against Sri Lanka on Tuesday after they reached 299.
India chased bravely and made 299 from 49.1 overs, the highest ever by chasing side at the SCG. The batting problems began when Stuart Clark captured two early victims of Virender Sehwag (18) and Yuvraj Singh (5), who both pushed unconvincingly and provided work for Gilchrist. Rohit Sharma went in a similar manner to Bracken after the chase started badly when Sachin Tendulkar stepped across his stumps and was lbw to Lee fifth ball.
Gambhir and captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni revived Indian hopes by putting on 98 for the fifth wicket partnership, before Dhoni was caught behind off the bowling of Brett Lee for 36.
Gambhir lifted his rate after Dhoni departed, but he was unable to drag his side ahead before collapsing at 299.

Indian Dilemma Going into Adelaide
Indian captain Anil Kumble is facing a great dilemma going into fourth and final test at Adelaide. Should he retain the winning team from Perth? Or should he go with a change to suit the Adelaide pitch.
This is a very critical match for India and Australia. Indian win will level off the series. And, definitely, Australia would like to draw it at least to win the series by 2-1.
So, the interesting thing to watch will be can Anil and co. repeat the spectacular performance of Perth and level off the series.
