IPL v ICL row

June 13, 2008 by Cricket Logger

Lalit Modi, the IPL chairman and commissioner, has firmly ruled out the possibility of any team that includes cricketers associated with the unauthorised Indian Cricket League (ICL) participating in the proposed Champions League Twenty20 tournament, even if these players are dropped just for the event. This implies that those cricketers cannot play even in the domestic tournaments that serve as the qualifying stages for the Champions League.

My question to Mr. Modi is that who is he to decide if  ICL is authorized or not. Is it that only BCCI sponsored bodies are authorized and the rest of the world is unauthorized?

I believe, it is money power of BCCI that is talking. It is very clear from the way he has been dictating his terms that he wants to kill his competition in India. ICL is a competition to IPL. Who the hell is he to tell Champions League body that any team with ICL players will automocatically be disqualified?

I believe, he is threatening the cricket world. He needs to be banned immediately, IMO.
