Kevin Pietersen was named as England captain for One Day International and Tests against South Africa, following resignations of Michael Vaughan and Paul Colling wood over the weekend.
Pietersen will lead the side in the fourth Test against South Africa at The Brit Oval which starts on Thursday. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) also confirmed that Ravi Bopara has
been brought into the squad in place of Michael Vaughan.
"I am very thrilled and excited to have been given the opportunity to
captain England," Pietersen said. "I have learned a great deal about leadership from playing under both
Michael and Paul and fully appreciate the level of responsibility that
comes with the job of captaining your country. It’s a huge honor for me and a
terrific challenge for me at this stage of my international career."
