Holdings Quits ICC

July 05, 2008 by Lara Brian

Michael Holding,  a legendary cricketer from West Indies has decided to quit International Cricket Council (ICC) committee. Holding's decision to step down came in protest at the ICC's decision, taken at its board meeting in Dubai, to change the result of the 2006 Oval Test from an England win over Pakistan to a draw.

"That game should never, ever be a draw. "I have just written my letter of resignation to the ICC cricket committee because I cannot agree with what they've done.

Pakistan had forfieted the game for their refusal to enter the field on the fourth day after tea break. Pakistan was protesting against a  five runs penalty imposed for ball-tampering by umpires Darrell Hair and Billy Doctrove.

Holding felt that Pakistan's refusal to play should not go unpunished even though they were not guilty of ball-tampering
