At last the ICC has decided to form a committee to resolve the issue of so called unauthorized cricket. Committee consists of Giles Clarke, the ECB chairman, Norman Arendse, the Cricket South
Africa president, Shashank Manohar, the BCCI's president-elect, Lalit
Modi, a vice-president of the BCCI [and the IPL's chairman and
commissioner] and David Becker, the ICC's senior counsel - business and
commercial.
With Lalit and Shashank on the committee, there are tough chances that the committee would declare IPL rivals ICL as an authorized cricket body. May be this is an official way of killing ICL. I remain skeptical.
Harbhajan Singh has been lucky this time to get away with a ban of just five ODIs. One more mistake like this one and he will be out of ever.
Harbhajan Singh was banned by the Indian board for five ODIs for slapping Sreesanth
during an IPL match last month. The ban means Harbhajan will miss
India's forthcoming tri-series in Bangladesh and the start of the Asia
Cup in Pakistan.
Earlier Bhajji was banned for 11 matches in the IPL in addition to ODIs.
